Temperature changes in Europe 1975-2000; mean annual change

 

Surface air temperature changes January-December 1975-2000 estimated as the difference between the simple 11yr means for the periods 1970-1980 and 1995-2005. Longitudes and latitudes are indicated along the axis of the diagram.

The period 1975-2000 is generally recognised in Europe as a period of widespread warming, being the result of alleged anthropogenic global warming. The net annual warming was largest in southwestern Europe and in parts of Sweden. A region extending in northwesterly direction from the Black Sea towards the North Atlantic saw relatively small or no changes. Part of Romania was cooling slightly.
